Our goal at Mishkon Tephilo’s Religious School is to provide a God-centered Jewish education for each of our students, in a safe, warm and nurturing environment. Mishkon Tephilo is committed to a bold and active educational program, encompassing all ages pre-K through 7th grade, giving our students the tools to enhance their Jewish life experiences.
Our school curriculum focuses on three major areas – Hebrew, Tephila, and Judaic Studies – as well as Jewish music, art, cooking, special holiday programs, field trips, and multi-generational programming.
- Hebrew is taught in Hebrew, Ivrit B’Ivrit, with an emphasis on the study of Jewish prayer and a conversational component. Each student focuses on reading, phonics, writing, grammar and vocabulary.
- Tephila – All grades work to master portions of our Shabbat liturgy. Students learn about Jewish theology and the meaning of the prayers, as well as reading and chanting.
- Judaic Studies – focuses on Jewish identity, with the study of Jewish history, Israel, the calendar, the holdiays, the role models in the synagogue, menschlichkeit, Jews of Eastern Europe, and Jews of Sepharad.
We believe in instruction for all. We realize that we live in a world of differences and that students have unique learning styles and strengths. Mishkon Tephilo is sensitive to these challenges. In order to address a variety of student needs, we differentiate our program so every student can have a successful and meaningful experience in Jewish learning.
